Lately I've been listening to Dorothy Ashby records and Miles Davis' Bitches Brew which leads me to the amazing psychedelic art of Mati Klarwein. He developed his technique with the guidance of Fernand Léger and Ernst Fuchs. As his work evolved so did his friendships with legends such as Salvador Dali, Jimi Hendrix, and Timothy Leary. Mati left us an open window through which we can still gaze in wonder.

  1. Ahh, he's so amazing!! Funny, I just recently got that big book of all the record covers he painted - the text is only in Spanish and French so unfortunately I can't read it (definitely a bummer because there is a LOT of it accompanying the pictures and so many old photos, too), but the images are reproduced so beautifully! Some of Maria Calderon's work reminds me of his style... so cool!
